The Derelict School’s Outbuilding

While exploring Scotland, we visited a small abandoned school with numerous outbuildings. One of these is a half-barn in which sat a couple of small children’s chairs and random industrial items.

Scottish Thistle

Travelling to Scotland in late October makes it somewhat difficult to find a thistle still in bloom. This was the only one I saw that week, spotted on a very windy morning in the village of Tomatin (just south of Inverness)

Ullapool Docks

Visiting Ullapool for the first time, I was struck by the town’s beauty and contrast. It’s a quaint fishing port set in stunning surroundings of Loch Broom. There was a torrential downpour of rain as we arrived, but this stopped after a short while, to reveal beautiful stormy clouds over the Loch.

If you ever visit, make sure to go to the restaurant near the docks – it does the best fish and chips I’ve ever had!

I’ve just spent a wonderful week exploring the Scottish Highlands with my family. I’ve visited the country a few times in the summer, but this is the first time in the autumn. With all the gorgeous colours, I think this is my favourite time to go there.

Battersea Power Station

A new photo of Battersea Power Station. This one required a fair bit of tidying in Photoshop as the sky was rather noisy from planes at long exposure. This HDR was generated from 3 different exposure images at -2, 0, +2.

I think this one may be my favourite so far! Mainly because I’m surprised that grey, rainy Battersea can look so pretty!
