Brighton’s Street Art

Taken on a stroll around Brighton during Flash on the Beach. The street art is fantastic – some wonderfully talented artists! More photos to come soon!

This is a colourful HDR generated from a single raw (since I was lacking a tripod).

Another photo from my pre-FOTB (Flash on the Beach) photowalk in Brighton on Sunday. This one was taken under the pier. There were many red doors like this one, each numbered and locked shut with a rusty padlock. I wonder what’s behind them…

This sculpture is on the coast at Brighton. I’m not sure what it’s actually called, so we’ll stick with Turqoise Donut as a name for now! Interested to know more about it if anyone has interesting facts to share!

Picking Up Pebbles

I’m in Brighton for a few days, speaking at the fabulous FOTB! While here, I’ve taken the opportunity to explore this lovely seaside location with my 400D (before the rain began) and managed to catch this cheeky little bird picking up pebbles and running off with them! :)

I took this photo the other evening on a photowalk after work. A tricky shot to get completely sharp as it was taken on a busy road bridge that was constantly shaking from the traffic.

This is my first proper attempt at generating a mild HDR image from a single raw file – normally I use three images.

Another shot from the riverside in Battersea. I found it quite surprising on this photowalk that even the rusted, industrial riverside of South London can look beautiful at night. :)

An Urban Passageway

I went for photowalk around Battersea with Ryan and Gav this evening. This shot was taken underneath the railway bridge across the river from the Battersea Powerstation. The whole passageway had a very harsh, industrial feel, resulting in a somewhat post-apocalyptic feeling HDR! Just watch out for those zombies…

St Paul’s Cathedral

My first attempt at HDR, using some of the lessons I learned during a weekend photography workshop by the lovely Trey Ratcliff. The view is of St Paul’s Cathedral and the Milennium bridge from the south bank of the Thames (outside the Tate Modern).
