Games

When I’m not playing games, I’m making them! Here are some highlights:

  • Senior front-end developer at Mind Candy. Having spent 2.5 years working in Flash on Moshi Monsters, I am now developing a currently unannounced 3D game in Unity.
  • I’m currently working on designs for a couple of my own independant games. I’ll be making those in Unity.
  • Co-worked on developing a simple 3D “Asteroids” game for the Playstation 2, using OpenGL and C++. This used a framework provided by the Nottingham Trent University. Mostly developed in vi on the Linux distribution for the PS2.
  • Independently, two 2D games were developed in C++ using the GWin library

AI, NLP

  • Implementation of a recurrent neural network used to forecast foreign exchange rates. The RNN was implemented with the assistance of Jonathan Tepper from the Nottingham Trent University. Once trained, and after numerous configurations were trialed, the developed network out-performed the benchmark academic paper. This neural network was implemented in C++.
  • A chatbot based on Weizenbaum’s Eliza program. Users are able to converse with the program, which detects certain keywords, and “remembers” discussion topics in order to provide the required information.

Achievements

  • Named as one of Develop Magazine’s 30 under 30 in January 2010.
  • Developer of the winning game (Piggy Panic) in the final of the 2011 series of the Junior Apprentice. The game was developed with artists and producers at Mind Candy in ~24 hours.
